National Atomic Testing Museum (NATM) - Trinity Exhibit
National Atomic Texting Museum ~ Las Vegas, NV
In 1945 the Manhattan Project conducted the very first test of an atomic weapon at Trinity Site in southern New Mexico. The successful test proved the feasibility of atomic weapons. Weeks later American aircraft dropped two bombs on two cities in Japan; the first and last time atomic or nuclear weapons have been used in war. The devastation caused by these weapons prompted Japan to surrender, ending World War II.
This exhibit, opened on the 75th anniversary of the test, chronicles the massive project the United States undertook to develop a superweapon and change the world.
